The moment that I knew I was going to dedicate my life to the theater happened to me when I was in college. I had quite a roundabout college theater career. I started as a music major studying vocal performance classical music and I spent a year in the music school at Ithaca which is a wonderful program. But I knew that wasn’t exactly what I wanted to do. I applied to a bunch of schools for business in high school, and actually during that first year I had a moment where I was really wondering if I made the wrong decision pursuing the arts. I thought about reapplying to all the schools that I applied to for business. I had some friends that were musical theater majors, thank God, and they urged me and suggested that audition for the musical theatre program in Ithaca to which I did and I got in.

And something very very interesting happened. Kind of the procrastination and lethargy I felt about my studies or taking work on a daily basis just went away and I found something that all of a sudden there were not enough hours in the day and I could pour myself into, and right then I knew that I could never do anything else. And then, of course I started working and my love for theater just expounded even greater and even further. I think that’s because the connection we have with people. That’s really how I think theater has saved me and saves me every time I step onstage.

I’ve been so lucky to get to do such varied work. and no matter what’s going on in our lives, you can go to the theater every night and you can connect with the audience, and you can have an experience and become transported and everything else goes away. Through this very unsure time there hasn’t been a day that goes by that I don’t think about how grateful I am that I get to do this for a living and be a part of this incredible New York theater at Broadway, Off-Broadway community. We get to connect and or in the business of being with people.

We will again.
Theater has saved me every time I step onstage. and I think we all come through the other side of this on short time.
Theater is going to save me and it’s going to save us all again.
