ブロードウェイやテレビ、映画で活躍するミドルタウン高校出身のアーロン・トヴェイトが、新たにライブアルバムをリリースした。

『The Radio in My Head: Live at 54 Below』は、昨年春、ニューヨークのキャバレー「54 Below」で行われたトヴェイトの全公演が完売した際のライブを収録したものだ。このアルバムでは、『ウエスト・サイド・ストーリー』の「Something『s Coming」や『カルーセル』の「If I Loved You」といったショーチューンを歌い上げるほか、ブロードウェイの枠を超えて、ボブ・ディランの「To Make You Feel My Love」、ビリー・ジョエルの「She』s Always a Woman」、テイラー・スウィフトの「We Will Never Ever Get Back Together」なども披露している。

トヴェイトはブロードウェイで『ネクスト・トゥ・ノーマル』、『ヘアスプレー』、『ウィキッド』に出演し、2011年には『キャッチ・ミー・イフ・ユー・キャン』で主演を務めた。テレビでは、『ゴシップガール』、『ハウル』、『アグリー・ベティ』に出演し、最近ではUSAネットワークの『グレイスランド』で主演を務めた。また、映画『レ・ミゼラブル』ではアンジョルラス役を演じた。

現在30歳のトヴェイトは、両親のスタンとポージー・トヴェイトが今もオレンジ郡に住んでいる。ミドルタウン高校を卒業した彼は、在学中に3つのスポーツ部に所属し、学校内のファイナンス・アカデミーの会長を務めたほか、生徒会、全米優等生協会、そして校内合唱団「パイパーズ」のメンバーでもあった。高校時代、彼は毎春のミュージカルで主役を獲得した。

Middletown High School graduate Aaron Tveit, who has starred on Broadway, TV and film, now has a live album to add to his resume.

“The Radio in My Head: Live at 54 Below,” was recorded during Tveit’s sold-out performances last spring at the New York City cabaret 54 Below. On the album, he sings show tunes such as “Something’s Coming” from “West Side Story” and “If I Loved You” from “Carousel,” and ventures beyond Broadway with Bob Dylan’s “To Make You Feel My Love,” Billy Joel’s “She’s Always a Woman” and Taylor Swift’s “We Will Never Ever Get Back Together.”

Tveit performed on Broadway in “Next to Normal,” “Hairspray” and “Wicked,” then starred in “Catch Me If You Can” in 2011. On TV, he has had roles in “Gossip Girl,” “Howl,” “Ugly Betty” and most recently as star of “Graceland” on the USA Network. He starred as Enjolras in the film “Les Misérables.”

Tveit, 30, whose parents, Stan and Posie Tveit, still live in Orange County, graduated from Middletown High School, where he participated in three high school sports and was president of the school’s Academy of Finance, as well as a member of the student council, National Honor Society and its performing chorus, Pipers. He won the leading role in every spring musical during his high school years.
