僕は「新年の抱負を立てない」派です。いずれにせよ、俳優として、僕の生活はとても規則正しくなっています。僕はとてもルーティーンを重んずる人間だとわかりました。健康を確実にメンテナンスする多くのルーティーンがあるので、たぶん典型的な新年の抱負のようなものは、一年中たてているんです。

ちょっとしたことはありました。たとえば、数年前に新年パーティで過ごしていた時に「なぜここにいるんだろう？このパーティに来たいわけじゃなかった」と感じ、「来年は、山に行こう」と言って、そうしました。とてもよかった。あれはささやかな抱負でした。

俳優としては、僕らは次に何が来るのかを知らないので、多くの事がわからない時には「あれをやろう」、「これをしたい」と具体的に宣言するのは難しいのです。

僕はただ何が起きても対応できるように準備し、柔軟でいようとしています。新年の始まりには、それらを思い出すために時間を取ることが多いんです。だから、抱負が必要かどうかはわからないけれど、それは自分のための習慣の一部にはなっています。

これに関しては、少し禅的になろうとしています。こう言ってみるんです。「OK、次のものが来た。願わくは前と同じくらいうまくいくか、あるいはもっとうまくいきますように」（了）

アーロン、去年のお正月に山に登っていたのはそういうわけだったのか。グリースライブのインタビューでも、新年の抱負はたてないけど、お世話になった人たちへの感謝を思い出すようにしていると言っていました。そして最後にZenが出てきた！少しと言わず、どうぞ日本に修行に来てください！

Aaron Tveit’s Non-New Year’s Resolutions

 Broadway darling Aaron Tveit kicks off 2018 with a double dose of Lincoln Center. First—as part of the New York Philharmonic’s special event New Year’s Eve: Bernstein on Broadway—he joins Annaleigh Ashford, Christopher Jackson, Laura Osnes, and conductor Bramwell Tovey for a celebration of Bernstein favorites, including songs from West Side Story, On the Town, and Wonderful Town. Then, on February 9, he makes his American Songbook debut in the iconic Appel Room with a high-energy evening of musical theater signatures, songbook standards, pop covers, and more. As he prepares for these two Lincoln Center appearances, we asked Tveit to share his resolutions for the new year. 

 I fall under the “do not make New Year’s resolutions” side. As an actor, my life is very regimented, anyway. I find that I’m quite a person of routine, and a lot of those routines are about maintaining my health in a certain way, so maybe a typical New Year’s resolution—I kind of try to do that all year.

There have been little things, like, for instance, a couple of years ago when I was at a New Year’s party I was like, “Why am I at this party? I didn’t want to come to this party,” and I said, “Next year, I’m going to be on a mountain.” And I was. So that was nice. That was a bit of a resolution.

As actors, we don’t know what the next thing is and it’s hard to make concrete statements like “I’m going to do this,” or “I want to do this,” when so much is unknown.

I just try to be ready for whatever happens and to kind of remain malleable. And I do tend to take a moment, as the New Year is starting, to reflect on those things. So I don’t know if that’s necessarily a resolution, but it’s a bit of a tradition that I do for myself.

I try to be a little Zen about it. Try to say, “Okay, here comes another one, and hopefully it will be as good as the last. Or better.”
