あらすじ

ニューヨークを舞台にしたラブコメディ。チャーリーはマンハッタンの広告代理店に務めるハンサムな青年だが、幼い頃から他人とのつきあい方の要領が悪くてモテない。しかしアンジェラとは、飛行機で偶然に知り合い押しかけられる感じで付き合いが続いていた。ある日、彼はクビにされそうになった同僚の代わりに仕事を辞め、違和感を感じ始めたアンジェラとも彼女の両親との食事をぶち壊しにして別れてしまう。カウンセリングに通ったり、新しい出会いを得るために友だちにアドバイスを求めるが…

とにかくアーロンが演じるチャーリーは品よくかっこよくセクシーでしかもかわいい。

ハロウィンパーティで妊娠した修道女の格好をしているシーンは笑える。しかもそのままラブシーン。すごく楽しそうだ（笑）。しかし我にかえった翌朝、帰宅するにも修道女の服しかなく、それを着て雨のそぼ降る中飛び乗ったバスで同じようなパーティ明けの男と隣り合わせて、お互いに「俺ってあんなふうに見えてるんだろうな…」と自己嫌悪に陥ってるシーンがいい。

アーロンはこの物語が「ありきたり」なラブコメではない所が気に入って引き受けたと語っていた。

交錯するタイムライン、映像のカット割りや画面への書き込みなど、かなり実験的な作りの映画ではある（ひらたく言えばちょっとよくわからない）。セリフで話が進んでいくので英語をもっと聞き取れれば楽しいだろうと思う。

最初に付けられたタイトルは”Stereotypically You”だった。

When Charlie Carroll quits his job and his girlfriend on the same day, it seems as though he’s finally found freedom. With no job and no love, Charlie is forced to go on a journey of self-discovery so intense that he begins to suffer from surreal hallucinations, flashbacks, and fantasies.
