『Next to Normal』オフブロードウェイ版 ゲイブ・グッドマン役

アーロンがオリジナルキャストを務めた作品。オフブロードウェイからブロードウェイに駆け上がり、2009年トニー賞では11部門にノミネートされ、主演女優賞・楽曲賞・編曲賞に輝いた。さらに2010年にはピューリッツァー賞を受賞。当時の超話題作となった。

概要

ゲイブは利発でやんちゃな高校生。Tシャツ、ジーンズ、ニューバランスのスニーカー（「自分が決めた服が後のキャストにも受け継がれていくのがうれしい」とアーロンがインタビューで語っていた）。どこにでもいそうな青年だ。

しかし彼は、母親のダイアナにしか見えない。8ヶ月の息子ゲイブを亡くしたダイアナは、娘のナタリーが生まれても悲しみが癒えず、長年双極性障害を患っている。夫のダンは献身的に尽くすが空回り気味だ。ナタリーは母親が亡くなった兄のことばかり考えて、自分のことは見えていないと感じている。そんな危うい家族に起きる波乱と再生の物語。
